Old Fella Receives $7,680 Grant from PetSmart Charities® to Spay/Neuter 160 Pets

(WAYNESBORO, Ga) September 9, 2009. Old Fella received a $7,680 grant this week to provide for 160 spay/neuter operations. Old Fella’s Litter Patrol program, established in 2006, has provided for the spay/neuter of 377 pets to date. This generous grant by PetSmart Charities® will allow Old Fella to continue this important work to proactively fight Burke County’s dire pet overpopulation problem.

Qualifying recipients must provide proof of need, which may include:
(1) Food stamps,
(2) Federal SSI, AFDC or TANF,
(3) Rental Assistance,
(4) Medicaid,
(5) Soc. Security (as main income),
(6) Unemployment,
(7) LIHEAP,
(8) Disability.

Or applicants may submit proof of income level. The following annual income levels will qualify an applicant for free surgery:
Family Size 1 – 26,000,
Family Size 2 – 29,700,
Family Size 3 – 33,400,
Family Size 4 – 37,100,
Family Size 5 – 40,100,
Family Size 6 – 43,050,
Family Size 7 – 46,050,
Family Size 8 – 49,000.

As of August 31, 2009, Old Fella has provided for the spay/neuter of 146 Burke County cats and dogs. This
generous grant from PetSmart Charities will allow us to double that number! Old Fella transports Burke County
companion animals to and from two low-cost spay-neuter clinics, CSRA Lifesaver in North Augusta, SC and
Dogwood Park Clinic in Grovetown, GA. Old Fella also works with Dr. Sarah Ford at the Burke County Animal
Hospital to provide for these spay and neuters.

“We are excited to increase the total number of spay/neuter surgeries provided for by Old Fella,” said Butch Storm, President of the group. “We hope that our spay/neuter program will assist with the dire pet overpopulation program in Burke County.
